What CalSimple collects, why we need it, who helps us run the app, and the choices you have.

Effective October 11, 2026

Who we are

CalSimple (“we”, “us”) makes the CalSimple app and this website. For anything about your data, email support@calsimple.app.

What we collect

Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive an account identifier from that provider, plus your email address and name if you choose to share them. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email, and we then only see a private relay address. We never receive your Apple or Google password.

Your profile and plan

The setup answers your plan is built from: sex, birth date, height, weight, workouts per week, goal, desired weight, pace and diet. We use them to calculate your daily calorie, macro and water targets. We also keep your goals and settings such as units, whether burned calories are added to your goal and whether unused calories roll over. You can change them in Settings at any time. Your other setup answers, such as what gets in your way and where you heard about CalSimple, aren’t sent to us.

Your meals

Meal and food label photos you take and, for each entry, its name, calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sugar and sodium, the ingredients and amounts that were counted, a health score with a short reason, and when you ate it. When you describe a meal in words or type a correction with Fix results, that text goes to our AI provider to make the estimate, and we keep only the result, not what you typed. When you scan a barcode we keep the product we found. Manual entries contain what you type, and foods you save as favorites are kept too.

Your weight, water and workouts

The weights you log and their dates, the water you log (amount and time), and the workouts you log (type, description, intensity, duration, when you started and the calories burned). From your log we work out your logging streak and medals.

Your progress photos

Photos you add to Progress, with their date and your latest logged weight on that day, if you have one.

Your subscription

Whether you have CalSimple Premium, which plan, and its trial and renewal dates, plus how many AI scans you used each day, so we can apply the daily free limit. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card details.

Technical data

When the app talks to our servers we process your IP address (for example to limit repeated sign-in attempts), and keep request logs with the time, the endpoint, the result, a request ID and your account ID, plus error reports. We don’t log your photos or what you type.

Leaderboards

When you first sign in we look up which country your network is in (from your IP address) and save that country on your account. You can change it or remove it (None) in Settings › Leaderboard.

The leaderboards show other people only a made-up name, your country’s flag and how many days in a row you’ve logged a meal. Never your real name, email, photos or what you eat. You can hide yourself with “Show me on leaderboards”.

We don’t sell your personal data, we don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you allow it, CalSimple reads your steps, active energy and weight to show your activity and, if you turn it on, to add the calories you burn to your daily goal. It writes the meals (calories, protein, carbs and fat), water, weight and workouts you log in CalSimple to Apple Health.

What CalSimple reads from Apple Health stays on your iPhone: we don’t upload it to our servers. We never use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, never sell it, never share it with anyone, and never store it in iCloud. You can change what CalSimple may read or write at any time in the Health app.

Kept only on your iPhone

  • Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. Their times and settings never leave it.
  • Widgets keep today’s numbers on your iPhone so they can show them.
  • Your language choice is kept on your iPhone.

How we use it

  • To run the app: keep your food log, calculate your plan and daily totals, and show your progress.
  • To estimate the nutrition in your meal photos, food labels and descriptions, and apply your Fix corrections (see below).
  • To keep your water, weight, workouts, progress photos, streaks and medals.
  • To unlock CalSimple Premium, apply the daily free scan limit and restore your purchases.
  • To keep the service secure and working: limiting abuse, finding and fixing errors.
  • To show the Global and Country leaderboards.
  • To answer you when you contact us.

Your meals, weight, workouts, progress photos and body details are health-related information. We use them only to provide CalSimple’s features to you.

Your choices and rights

  • See and correct. Everything you log is in the app. Edit or delete any meal, workout, water or progress photo, and change any weight or goal.
  • Get a copy. Email support@calsimple.app and we’ll send you your data as a JSON file: profile, goals, meals, weights, water, workouts, saved foods, leaderboard settings and subscription status. Ask if you also want your meal and progress photos.
  • Delete. In the app: Settings, then your account, then Delete account. Or by email. How to delete your account.
  • Apple Health. Turn CalSimple’s access on or off in the Health app at any time.
  • Your rights by law. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email us to use any of them.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Your photos are private: they are only sent to your own signed-in app. Sign in with Apple tokens are stored encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so if you find a problem, please tell us at support@calsimple.app.

Children

CalSimple isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we’ll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we’ll also let you know in the app.
